Hippo focuses on the coming of age of two half-siblings: Hippo, a video game-addicted teenager, and Buttercup, a Hungarian Catholic immigrant who loves classical music and Jesus. Like the Aphrodite of ancient Greece, Buttercup doesn’t reciprocate her brother, who prefers to indulge in the arts of war and chaos. The result is a tragicomic, hormone-fueled waking nightmare that has to be seen to be believed.
